I am obviously interested and have high expectations when Caroline is releasing her own line after following her content for almost a decade. I thought Skin Rocks by Caroline Hirons first cleansing product would be a balm cleanser as she was the blogger who introduced me to cleansing balms. I bought a bottle of her first product, Retinoid 2 that I am about to crack open and I’ve tried other products in SpaceNK store when I was in the UK last year. They are all very lovely and come with a mid to high market price tag. Caroline runs clinical study and consumer trials on all her products and that justified the price for the formulation. The Cream Cleanser was my most used product from the brand so far.
What is The Cream Cleanser?
Self-explanatory – a cream cleanser that is non-foaming, do not lather and best used with a flannel to remove.
Brand says: This skin-conditioning cream cleanser gently cleanses the skin, removing light makeup, SPF and daily impurities without leaving the skin feeling tight or dry. Containing a combination of barrier-supporting ingredients, including eight amino acids, squalane and jojoba seed oil to soften the skin and boost hydration, The Cream Cleanser is the perfect starting point for your skincare routine.
This product comes in both fragranced and fragrance free options. Both options have identical formulation. Mine was fragrance free and smelled like a plain French pharmacy cream, without any masking scent that is not unpleasant nor interesting. I recall smelling the fragranced version in store and my memory tells me that the fragrance was very faint. Without fragrance, texture will be the determining factor if I’d repurchase. The cleansing function is almost non-negotiable and difficult to go wrong with modern technology.
What is the texture ?
Luxurious, dense and delightful soft cream. It is a cream that you can massage for a long time and it would still provide a non-greasy slip. I am afraid of cream cleansers that leave a film behind (sadly, most do), this rinse off completely clean. Of course, the effects would be amplified if used with a washcloth.
When do I use it?
I use it mainly as a second cleanse or a morning cleanse. The instructions said it would remove light make-up and sunscreen, I still prefer a dedicated balm or oil cleanser that would destroy make up completely.
What is the con then?
The only prohibitive factor is the price tag. This product is ~US$40 for 100ml product which I could easily empty in less than a month with daily use. Non-foamy products generally require generous amount application and has lesser mileage. Also, the brand is not really accessible to me unless I pay for international shipping, which then add to the overall product cost.

Would I repurchase?
Yes absolutely, but it will be a considered price purely due to the price tag. I am 100% onboard with the formulation and will likely go for the fragranced option. I like the product in this squeezy tub but I would also prefer this to come in a jumbo size with a fat pump. I am greedy so I like a saloon size.
