My pastel-y skincare routine line up for December. I don’t have any fun activities for the festive month. So while I get overstimulated by the constant bombardment of holiday gift guides and every commercial ads challenging my no-buy will on making unnecessary purchases, I searched through my stash and put together a fun skincare products for a bit of my festive fun.
Clinique Mild Liquid Facial Soap* - The original 3-step routine - So much memories! Like many, this was my very first sophisticated skincare brand/product. I am not sure if the brand still make the bar soap, but I've certainly been through uncountable bars during my late-teens and early 20s.
Yello Skincare Cynara Essence Mist* - Yello Skincare is a local Malaysian brand that makes quite excellent skincare at very affordable price. The cleansers and the original Cynara Essence are my top recommends. This is the mist format of the original Cynara Supple Plumping Essence. There are Hyaluronic Acid (Sodium Hyaluronate), snow mushroom (hydration) and oatmeal (soothing). This is quite a dense mist (heavy on the glycerin side, I suspect), that it is not a ultra fine and disappear into nothing spritz – you can feel the essence on the face for a while before your skin drink it up completely, which is great to prep the skin for serums, but I will be cautious to not spray it over make up to prevent make up from gliding off.
Drunk Elephant Protini Powerpeptide Resurf Serum - contains 10% lactic acid alongside with 9 peptides complex blend - a continuation of the Protini moisturiser, which is very lovely if you don’t mind the splurge. This serum has a dry oil texture (squalane is high up on the 5th ingredient) – I’ve never used any acid serum in an oily base so this is new experience to me. The lactic acid is gentle and effective even with just one use - I do see the post-acid glow. If you are looking for a lactic acid leave on product, this is a good option because the price tag is equally as prohibitive as the iconic and OG Sunday Riley Good Genes, which I swear by.
Skin10004 Hyalu-Cica Blue Serum - a basic hydrating serum with no bells and whistles. Ultralightweight and disappear into nothing so it’s a no brainer whether this is the first, second, last or only serum product to incorporate into a routine. My skin is prone to dehydration, I like another layer of hydrating serum before my active-based serums.
Revolution Skincare x Sali Hughes Ring Light - This has light reflective properties, again, the comparable higher end product would be Sunday Riley Auto Correct. I find myself topping up this eye cream in the afternoon before my zoom meetings just to make me look temporarily 'fresher' than before. Journalist extraordinaire, Sali Hughes said in her video that this was her favourite creation from the line, but my favourite is the daily exfoliating acid, Placid, Vitamin C serum Must-C and the Clean Sheet cleanser.
Glow Recipe Plum Plum Hyaluronic Cream – a very nourishing moisturiser despite the bouncy cloud like texture. I prefer this in the PM and will not wear this under make up.
I have a couple of sunscreen on rotation at the moment, so I didn’t put any of them into this routine. I am very curious what are the purchases you lot, my beauty junkie readers purchased or get excited during the holiday season. Leave me a comment below, or you can find me at my Instagram.
